I was walking towards my workshop, when I found a Hummingbird (Hummer)
standing on a sidewalk. When I got closer, it made very little effort to fly away.
Surely the hummer was hurt. I called the Audubon Society for suggestions on
what was best to do. The feeder was modified to make it easier for the hummer
to feed. This was an opportunity to video a hummer that tolerated my presence
much more than any hummer I had seen before. I was always puzzled by the fact
that although he could only fly for short distances, while standing on a support at
the feeder he seemed to so full of energy. He ate, fluttered his wings, stuck out his
tongue, cleaned the sides of his beak, cleaned his feathers, seemed active and flew
short distances. On and off I taped the hummer. Then about five weeks later the
hummer disappeared.
