Front Coyer: Art work by Maria Rivera
Back Cover: Art work by Anthony Dávila
These cuentos, written by Sixth grade bilingual students, ages from
11 to 17, from Buena Vista Elementary School, Southside Independent
School District, show artistic and poetic tapestries of culture, language
and heritage.
These children demonstrate motivation, intelligence and a vibrancy that
make the classroom a unique loom for weaving images of laughter, pain
and promise into intricate patterns that will certainly remain in our
hearts forever. Furthermore, these cuentos tap the children's creative
energies before they are buried under the rigors of classroom rote,
repetition, and redundancy.
So instead we choose to embrace el cariño and the breath of these
cuentos.
