Not only a maker of poems, Martínez Campbell is also an accomplished visual artist, a playwright, and no less a singer and song composer. Several of her songs have been recorded abroad, including the recent Recordando a José Alfredo (Corrido a José Alfredo Jimenez), lyrics of which appear in this collection. Some critics have said that "technique" is not all there is to the poetic craft. Beyond a doubt, the poetry of Trini Campbell proves that there is more. Much more. Si, mucho más. Porque aquí hay chispa. Hay alma y vida. Hay energía, integridad, coraje y corazón... 8888Angela de Hoyos 888888Editor, M&A Editions |
