Here the big rat is desperate to get in and is squeezing down the opening.  Normally the rat can drop down and controls the drop by  dragging the feet along the sides of the opening and by bending the tail so that it lays more or less  flat on the outside surface.  As seen in the photo, the tail is not straight up and in line with the body, as one would expect. There seems to be a body lump just below the root of the tail.  I believe that  the rat is  squeezed down so much that some internal organs are displaced into the  "lump".
